Halloween: Sneak Peek

Since it is only the end of September, it is too early for me to post pics of the kids in their Halloween costumes...it would spoil all of the fun, so instead...I'm going to give you a sneak peek of what's to come.

Also, you should know that this is only a preview of two costumes. The third has been ordered online but has not arrived yet.

This first pic appears to be that of a very Italian-looking man. LOL

Hmmmm....whose eye could this be??

Oh, this hat will take him to places near and far...

This symbol is quite powerful in many parts of the world...

Legs, legs, legs....who could they belong to?

More to come...

Slim Pickin's

We went apple picking last weekend and we were slightly disappointed. The people at the patch that we went to said that the crops were badly hurt by early spring frosts. 90% of the apple trees were bare. All they had left were a few varieties of apples and the hearty Asian pears. If you haven't had an Asian pear before, it is a cross between an apple and a pear, but with a tough skin.
These were the apples we picked (before I washed them, obviously).

Maddy (Lily's best friend) and Lily...

Feeding the smelly chickens was a thrill for some...

Mom and me...

Doesn't Zoey look like a scarecrow in this pic? Heeheehee

I'm thinking of a cute scrapbook page for this Pumpkins For Sale pic...

I guess Zoey was the only kid who wanted to pose with me...

We hiked pretty far to get to the apple orchard. See that wagon waaaaay in the background? That's Matt pulling the apples and Maddy.

My mom heard it through the grape vines....

I really liked this pic in b&w...

You can't tell from this pic, but these apples were rotten on the other side...

Despite the slim pickens, we had a good day for apple picking and brought home two huge bowls for apples crips, apple slices, apple cake and just plain ol' apple eating!

My OH-SO Crazy Girl!

Today I was driving Lily and Zoey to pick up some dinner (since Jack was working late and Matt was at a ball game) and Lily says to me:

Mom, if I only had one eye would I be able to see everything with the other eye?

Me: Why are you asking me this, Lil? Is it because you aren't wearing your glasses and you can't see well?

L: No, it's because of this girl in my class.

Me: What's wrong with her?

L: She only has one eye. Her eye ball fell out.

M: WHAT? There is a girl in your class who lost an eye? What happened?

L: She stabbed herself in the eyeball with a pencil and lost an eyeball!

Me: Oh my God! Are you serious? That's awful! Lily, that is the most horrible story I've ever heard! Does she wear glasses or a patch?

L: Sigh...oh, Mom...I'm just making this story up. There's no girl in my class with one eye!

Me: Argh!! Six year old girls! Argh!

Starting September with a Bang!

I have been on a scrapping streak since September started. I'm going to attribute it to the cooler temps. They have been helping Zoey to nap a little bit longer than usual, so I have a bit more free time to scrap. I have been averaging about 3 layouts during her naps. I've also become a bit more dilligent about working out everyday and the cooler temps are helping me with that too! I bought some excellent running shoes and have set out to run for at least 30-45 minutes a day! I don't always run. We went for a nice long family bike ride the other day, and I also like to take Zoey for some scenic walks too!

Nevertheless...I'm hoping that between the exercise and the extra scrap tme, the state of my mental health should be vastly improved! :)

Here are the layouts that I've started off the month of September with...

Despite the falling temps, we put the heater on the pool, but apparently it wasn't warm enough for these brave little souls. Can you see how blue their lips are? LOL

I call this one, "THE SHIVERS..." hehehe...
Just some fun pics I took while playing around with my aperature and shutter speeds the other day at dusk..
This one is the dirty rubber ducky from the sandbox, but I thought it was a cool shot...

My pink lillies at the end of the summer... I really like how the blue ball rolled into the pick and the shabby looking deck in the background. What do you think I can do with this pic?

Of course, I think this one is a beautiful keeper. You can't really see her scars in this one. They are starting to fade. I'm hoping that one day we won't see them at all.

I'll leave you with something to make you smile. Lily and Maddy were watching Toy Story 2 the other day. At the end of the movie are some "Outtakes" that had them in stitches. I had to replay this part of the movie and grab the camera to catch these cute little giggles in action...

...and yes...that is Butterscotch the Guinea Pig sitting on Maddy's lap during the movie....

Those giggles just make me smile.
